Oud Chachak

Most of the oils released at Habzoud are wild but sometimes we have offered even more affordable plantation oils. I wanted to offer a representation of a classic style of Cambodian oil, something dark with depth and make it available to everyone who may want to experience pure Oud. Naturally infected plantation wood was sourced from Koh Kong to juice Oud Chachak with a minimal soak from natural well water and juiced in a steel pot to capture the darker more incensy spectrum of Cambodi Oud.

The oil is has a dark brown hue with a orange tint and a lovely consistency. Off the dipstick you are struck with a strong dark smell of raw woods, bitter tobacco, wisps of smoke, an old wooden chest filled with coffee beans. This oil is a real powerhouse and i believe with some ageing will really stand toe to toe with some of the old Cambodian classics.

Once applied it has an intense doseage of raw Oud wood theres sweet smooth leather and raw pipe tobbaco with a certain “red” smell of ripe cherries, there is a smokiness but not heavy more like pipe smoke infused with honey and the smell of a really old wooden temple filled with ancient scrolls. As the oil drys down it gets sweeter and earthier, starts off the opposite and there are zero Thai style fruity notes present here. Theres something really seductive and addictive with the drydown, simply smells like a chip on low heat bubbling away. I also get a little faint sweet barn from this more like being in a horse stable as opposed to any funk But it is very tame and nothing like a barny Hindi though the profile is somewhat classical Hindi.

This is a great Oud at a even greater price for people wanting to get into Oud, it is also a potent and complex oil which would suit your trained experienced nose. Ive been using this oil daily and its perfect.
