Vetiver oil is an essential oil renowned for its grounding, calming and stabilising properties. It has a natural cooling affect and is a great oil to use when meditating
Also referred to askhus oil, vetiver oil is made from a perennial grass that’s native to India. Part of the Poaceae plant family, vetiver grass (Chrysopogon zizanioides) can grow up to 1.5 metres tall and has tall stems and long, thin, rigid leaves and purple/brown flowers.
It also happens to be related to other fragrant grasses, namely lemongrass and citronella. The name vetiver, Vetiveria Zizanioides in full, means ‘hatcheted’ up in the parts of India where it’s native to.
The plant is indigenous to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Malaysia. It can also be found in many other tropical regions, including Brazil, Jamaica, Africa, Indonesia, Japan and Australia.
This oil is a Vintage Vetiver oil steam distilled in India some years ago and is aged to perfection. The colour of the oil is pale yellow not like the usual dark green Vetiver oils you commonly find. The oil has a sticky viscosity and once applied you are hit with the cooling aroma of smooth refined woodiness, theres notes of a cooling fresh equatic breeze, densely populated rainforest, fresh pottery and a distinct array of earthiness. This oil really comes alive when applied to the skin and is very addictive.
Whether its to apply as it is or use in a blend this is one of the finest Vetiver oils money can buy.
