Patchouli is native to tropical Asia, and is widely cultivated in regions, such as Brazil and Hawaii, and Asian regions, including China, India, Malaysia and Indonesia.
A shrubby perennial plant, patchouli can grow up to one metre tall and has large, oval-shaped fragrant leaves. Both the stems and the leaves are extremely hairy. Meanwhile, the flowers are small and pale purple/white in colour. They look like thick woolly spikes and have long stamens.
Patchouli oil is a member of the Lamiaceae family, this oil isnt your cheap run of the mill oil and has been steam distilled and aged for a decade giving it a smooth, regal and clean aroma. The exotic scent of this vintage patchouli oil is one that will transport you back to the 90’s, the kind of smell you could smell off your elders as a kid.
The oil once applies opens with notes of crisp tobbaco laden in greenery, there are gentle wisps of smoke aswell as a vast ammount of spices. There is a distinct zesty sweetness while maintaining a woody drydown. The oil is like a vintage aftershave and smells so regal, masculine and executive.
